#deutschepanzerwaffe

The Panzer III (abbreviated Pz.Kpfw. III) was a German medium tank developed in the late 1930s and used extensively during the early and mid-stages of WWII. It was originally designed to engage enemy tanks, while the Panzer IV was meant for infantry support. Early versions were equipped with a 37mm gun, later upgraded to 50mm, and eventually some models received a short-barreled 75mm gun.

The Panzer III was heavily used in the invasions of Poland, France, the Soviet Union, and North Africa. Despite its effectiveness early in the war, by 1942 it became outclassed by more modern Allied tanks like the Soviet T-34. Production continued for various specialized versions, including command tanks and assault guns, but its role as a frontline battle tank was gradually replaced by the Panzer IV and later by the Panther.
