Death Rune = Totenrune. Usually a reversed Algiz rune (ᛣ) — pointing downward.
In ancient runes, Algiz rune (ᛣ) means protection or life. Flipped upside down, it has been interpreted in modern contexts as meaning death, loss of protection, or sacrifice.
The reversed Algiz rune (ᛣ) was used as a funerary symbol on the gravestones of SS soldiers. It replaced the Christian cross in some cases and became known as the “Totenrune”, or “Rune of the Dead“.
