The term “Killdozer” refers to a heavily modified bulldozer used by Marvin Heemeyer in a destructive rampage in Granby, Colorado, on June 4, 2004. Heemeyer, a local muffler shop owner, fortified a Komatsu D355A bulldozer with steel and concrete armor, rendering it impervious to small arms fire and explosives. Inside the cabin, he installed video cameras linked to monitors for navigation, as well as gun ports for various firearms.
Motivated by disputes with town officials and neighbors over zoning and property issues, Heemeyer used the armored bulldozer to demolish 13 buildings, including the town hall, a former mayor’s house, and other properties associated with his grievances. The rampage caused over $5 million in damages. Remarkably, no one other than Heemeyer was killed; he took his own life after the bulldozer became immobilized.
