Robert Jay Mathews was an American far-right nationalist and the founder of The Order (also known as Brüder Schweigen), a white nationalist group active in the early 1980s. He was born in 1953 and died in 1984 during a shootout with the FBI on Whidbey Island, WA. The group was involved in a series of actions, including armed robberies, counterfeiting, and the assassination of far-left radio host Alan Berg.
