Death Rune = Totenrune. Usually a reversed Algiz rune (ᛣ) — pointing downward.

• In ancient runes, Algiz rune (ᛉ) means protection or life. Flipped upside down, it has been interpreted in modern contexts as meaning death, loss of protection, or sacrifice.

• The reversed Algiz rune (ᛣ) was used as a funerary symbol on the gravestones of SS soldiers. It replaced the Christian cross in some cases and became known as the "Totenrune", or "Rune of the Dead".
