Description
MAS stands for Motoscafo Armato Silurante (torpedo-armed motorboat). The Flottiglia MAS units were specialist naval forces of the Royal Italian Navy (Regia Marina), using small fast boats, assault crafts, and later underwater assault vehicles/“human torpedoes.” They operated both in WWI (in earlier form) and in WWII.
